Repurposing your marketing content not only gets you more mileage from the content you create but also helps distribute it better.
Here's a very quick and dirty content repurposing strategy that will give you some ideas for how you can repurpose content for your business:
Turn one blog post into 30+ pieces of content
1. First, write a blog post with at least three main bullet points / sub-headings.
2. Create a piece of content that shares a general overview of the blog's content. Make one graphic and one video that can be resized and reshared on multiple platforms.
Use the same content from the blog post, just reworded slightly for each specific platform.
Example: Create a TikTok video about the blog's main points. You can then download and reshare it to YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, LinkedIn and others.
3. Then, go more in-depth, detailing each main point from the original blog separately on those same social media platforms. Create three graphics and three videos that can be repurposed on multiple platforms.
Example: Take the sub-headings from your original blog post, add some context under each and share as a Twitter thread. You can also do the same for LinkedIn and Facebook content. This can potentially give you 3-4 updates for social from one blog post.
4. Schedule your content for days or weeks ahead of time using a scheduling tool. We like using Hootsuite or HubSpot.
5. Bask in the fact that you can relax and not worry about creating content as often whilst still keeping your brand present on social.
Be selective about the content you choose to repurpose
Long-form content such as blog posts, white papers and research reports are generally considered the best forms of content to repurpose - this is simply because they contain so much information they give you a lot to work with! However, you still need to be selective about the pieces you choose - they need to be interesting enough to resonate with your audience and be easily consumed across a variety of formats. So, keep an eye on which pieces get the most interest and are driving the most traffic and then continue to choose similar pieces moving forward. We like to use Google Analytics to keep an eye on website traffic.
